The Gem Set to Shine

Doug LaLone, former manager of Mama Nancys, a diner on State Fair Boulevard, opened The Gem on Friday, June 17. What was Docs Little Gem Diner, the metal-sided Syracuse landmark, changed to include the addition of space for 18 tables. There is a dining deck, as well, open to the parking lot and next to the dining deck is a three-window ice cream stand. We have everything from filet mignon with eggs and home fries and toast to chicken riggies to pizza, said owner Doug Lalone. The new hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to midnight on weekends.
